Feeling boosted after getting a shot in the arm with yoga guru Baba Ramdev visit during the just concluded Global Agriculture and Food Summit, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has stressed over converting Jharkhand into an organic producing State.
Addressing villagers of Kijurkhal panchayat near historic Bhognadih of Barhaith in Sahibgunj on Sunday during a Jan Chupal the CM encouraged them to adopt the farming practice also in order to take their income to next level. Bhognadih is the village connected with Santhal Hul revolutionaries Sido, Kanhu, Chand, Bhairav and their two sisters Phulo and Jhano.
“The Government is in the process of forming a company for the promotion Jharkhand’s organic farm produces. Clusters in every district would come up where all the produce of the farmers would be purchased. During the Agriculture and Food Summit Baba Ramdev of Patanjali has assured that all the organic items being produced in the State would be bought by his company. Within 3-4 days processing plant for honey would be set up in Ranchi. I urge you all to go for organic farming in a big way without worrying about market,” said the CM informing them about growing demand of the product worldwide.
He on the occasion also talked about modern farm techniques such as drip and sprinkler irrigation so that more crops can be produced by using less water. “The dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about doubling farm income can go up to four times in Jharkhand if we go for latest techniques, irrigation methods, organic farming along with animal husbandry and allied activities. Still we are importing milk worth Rs 13000 crore annually which can add to our own farmers’ income,” he explained.
The CM reiterated the decision of the Government to go for separate electricity feeders for farmers, domestic users and industries and promised that by May 2019 at least six hours of power supply would be ensured for agricultural purposes.
Coming to the social menace prevailing in the form of female feticide, the CM informed the people attending the Jan Chaupal that new scheme for promotion of girl child would come up next year.
“We have decided to merge two schemes Ladli Laxmi Yojna and CM Kanyadan Yojna and make it one named as CM Sukanya Yojna. This would provide monetary benefits to the parents of a girl child at different stages of her early life till her marriage at 18 years. This would remove middlemen since the money would be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT,” said Raghubar Das where Sahibgunj MLA Anant Ojha and other senior officials of the districts were present.
He also rapped JMM—the party considers the Santhal Pargana region it stronghold—for doing nothing so far to change the fate of the people here despite both Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren been the Chief Minister of the State on several occasions.
