Hanumanganj police have nabbed a traffic police constable posted in the state capital and a constable posted at 29th Battalion Datia for sexually assaulting a 29-year-old divorcee woman at Shanti lodge on Sunday.

Police said that late in the night on Sunday the victim was accompanied by accused Yogendra Narwaria to the State capital from Vidisha and later she was gang-raped along with Yogendra’s friend Awdesh Narwaria posted as driver at 29th Battalion in Datia. 

Addl SP Zone 3 Rajesh Singh Bhadoria said that the two have been arrested and statement of the woman have been recorded after the complaint was lodged but on Monday morning she provided an application that as she was drunk she has altercation with the accused and she was not sexually assaulted by the accused. The victim was acquainted with Yogendra while on Sunday night Awdesh joined them at the lodged to have food and liquor.

At the moment the enquiry regarding the sexual assault has to be ascertained, he added.

The police have registered a case under section 376 and 34 of the IPC and started further investigation. Now as the victim has strayed away from her statements police are investigating to find that she was sexually assaulted or she has lodged complaint under the influence of alcohol.

The 29-year-old victim is a divorcee and came into contact with Yogendra and became friend with him when he was posted in Vidisha, said police. On the day of the incident Yogendra went to Vidisha and brought the victim to state capital.
