Senior IAS officer Varun Roojam on Saturday formally assumed charge as Director Information and Public Relations, Punjab at Punjab Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh.
A seasoned and efficient Administrator, Roojam an IAS officer of 2004 batch. has rendered his services as Deputy Commissioner in District Mukatsar, SAS Nagar Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala.
The new Director did Bachelor of Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and belongs to an educated family of the region. His father l.R. Roojam is a distinguished legal luminary who retired from the post of District and Sessions Judge in the year 2004. After retirement l.R. Roojam has also served in the Punjab State Human Rights Commission as a member from the year 2009 to 2014.
