In a major improvement to the current IT systems in Haryana Police, Ram Niwas, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Haryana launched Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS).
Baljit Singh Sandhu, DGP, Paramjit Singh Ahlawat, IGP Telecom-cum-Nodal Officer, CCTNS project, Haryana and senior police officers were present on the occasion.
CCTNS aims to create a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of policing through e-Governance. It covers all the crime and criminal-related functions and databases. In addition to the CCTNS Core Application Software, it covers major functions of the Department such as general verification, arms licensing, human resource management, inventory and procurement management, and training and e-learning.
Officials said the project was being implemented in phases to ensure adaptability and success. The Core Application Software (CAS) covering the core police functions at police stations and district level, and Citizen Portal (HarSamay24X7) were launched in the first phase on January 1, 2015.
In the second phase, eight more e-services such as tenant verification, character certificate, domestic help verification and employee verification were launched. Also, to increase the reach for citizens who have limited or no internet services, the system was integrated with Common Service Centres (CSCs) spread across the State.
With the third and last phase launched now, the entire CCTNS system has been made live. This last phase will increase the total number of e-services to 31. It will enable citizens to avail most of the police services sitting at their home. Also, with the implementation of 13 additional modules in a Police ERP type system, it is expected that over the time, internal police functioning will become more transparent and efficient. It will significantly reduce the mundane and repetitive work of police personnel there by enabling them to focus their time and energy on core policing.
“With the Go-live of this project and making the above mentioned applications functional across the State, both the police and the citizens will be equally benefitted,” said Ram Niwas.
