A 45-year-old Indonesian man choked to death during a chicken eating competition in capital Jakarta, the media reported on Saturday.

The competition, organised by fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) on Friday, had three participants who raced to eat the fried chicken wings in the least amount of time, EFE news reported.

The victim choked, drank water and, despite medical aid, died, according to police sources.

KFC Indonesia is in communication with local authorities to determine what exactly happened. In the meantime, O2 Accion Dcc, the promotions company that organized the event, has cancelled this contest." KFC spokesperson
