PKDA hearing on Puri Iskcon temple deferred

Saturday, 30 January 2016 | PNS | CUTTACK

The Orissa High Court on Friday directed the Puri-Konark Development Authority (PKDA) of Puri not to take any coercive action against Iskcon till February 17 in connection with a case pending with PKDA over the proposed Jagannath temple at Puri.

Justice Sanju Panda, adjudicating over a writ petition filed by Iskcon disciple Vanamali Das, passed the interim order after making the State Government a respondent in the case.

Meanwhile, informed about the HC order by an affidavit of Iskcon on the day, the PKDA at Puri deferred its hearing on the matter. On January 19, hearing on an application filed by a Puri lawyer, the PKDA had fixed January 29 for further hearing after sending a show-cause notice to Iskcon.
