Deputy Commissioner, Hazaribagh Ravishankar Shukla on Sunday visited Konar Dam, situated at the border of Hazaribagh and Bokaro district.The officials of irrigation and PHEB were with him during this visit along with the block officials.
Shukla first took a close look of the dam and the ongoing construction work of the tunnel for irrigation purpose. At the dam site officials of DVC welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and made him acquainted with the history, capacity and other details of the dam.
After visiting the dam site Shukla talked with the irrigation department officials engaged in completing the Konar irrigation project. The officials informed him that by March 2017 this project will start providing irrigation water to the farmers of Hazaribagh district between 6 to 16 km area.
DC also inquired about the drinking water facilities for the villagers of Banaso and nearby areas. last year the villagers of this area had alleged that due to canal the underground water level of their area has gone down. Irrigation department officials informed Shukla that they have constructed three deep borings in the area to solve the problem. Shukla instructed them to arrange supply of water from nearby Jamunia Dam to the denizens of this area.
After this, Deputy Commissioner enquired about the proposed water supply project to Hazaribagh town. The officials of PHED informed him that previously this project was under Hazaribagh Municipal Corporation which was transferred to them last year. They have taken the services of a consultancy which has submitted the DPR and now the process of taking no objection certificate from DVC is in progress. Shukla enquired about the route of pipeline from Konar Dam to Hazaribagh town which is approximately 65kms. The officials informed him that as per DPR soon the process of acquiring land will start.
