Thousands of people paid their last respect to Gurbachan Kaur Bajwa, mother of the Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, who was cremated in her native village Qadian on Friday. 85-year-old Gurbachan Kaur was the wife of former Minister Satnam Singh Bajwa, a well-known political leader of the region with immense contribution. She had not been keeping well for the past sometime. Her pyre was lit by her elder son Brigadier MPS Bajwa along with Partap Singh Bajwa and Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa. Qadian MlA and Partap Bajwa’s wife Charanjit Kaur Bajwa was also present at the cremation. The bhog ceremony or last prayers will be held on July 5, Sunday, at Qadian.
Those who were present at the cremation were Congress legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar, MlAs Ashwani Sekhri, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Raj Kumar Verka, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Rajnish Kumar Babbi, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, OP Soni, Tarlochan Singh Soondh, Surinder Kumar Dawar, and Sangat Singh Gilzian, among others.
