Chief Minister Raman Singh has extended hearty wishes to the public on International Senior Citizen Day.

He wished long, healthy and prosperous life to all the senior citizens and said that it is our social and moral responsibility to respect senior citizens. In his message to public on the occasion of World Senior Citizen Day, Singh stated that like childhood and youth, old age is also a natural phenomenon of life. He said that senior citizens have treasure of experience with them. Present generation can learn a lot from elderly members of our society.

Every person should remember that they will also reach old age at some point of their life. Hence, everyone should respect and care for senior citizens in their family, society and country as a whole, Singh said. Both State and Central Government are conducting various schemes for welfare of senior citizens. Meanwhile , the State Government’s Social Welfare Department will be organizing International Senior Citizen Day programme on October 1 in Raipur. On the occasion, a health check-up camp will be organized at new circuit house at 10 am. Here, senior citizens will be provided auxiliary equipments, and facility of legal and medical counselling. Besides, a senior citizen felicitation programme will be organized wherein Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu will be present as Chief Guest.

Gandhian Thinker and Ex-MP Keyur Bhushan, Padam Shree Mahadev Prasad Pandey, Padam Shree ATK Dabke and senior journalist Baban Prasad Mishra will attend the programme as special guests.
