Debashree Mukherjee made Jt Secy in PMO

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has transferred Debashree Mukherjee, a 1991-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre and appointed her as Joint Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office. Mukherjee is currently posted as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).  Earlier she was posted as Delhi Jal Board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) during the erstwhile Sheila Dikshit regime.

Mukherjee had also served as Secretary, Social Welfare Department of the Delhi Government, from June 2008 till she went on study leave in October 2009, to pursue MSc in Water and Environment Management from lough-borough University in leicestershire, UK.

It may be noted that not a single fleet of new buses were added during her tenure as DTC CMD. The financial health of DTC also deteriorated in the past two years. The Ministry is not happy with the officials of AGMUT cadre as majority of them were either reluctant to join the Delhi Government or they didn’t want to go outside.

FO Hashmi is likely to be transferred from Goa to Delhi. He is a 2002-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre. Hashmi had earlier served in Delhi Government in different capacities. Hashmi is also considered as good officer in the bureaucracy. Hashmi has already served three and half years in Goa.

DP Dwivedi, who is also a 2002-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre has been transferred to Delhi from Goa. Rumours are also doing the rounds that a 2005-batch IAS officer Kunal and his IPS wife may be transferred to Goa. Kunal is currently posted as District Magistrate (Revenue) of East Delhi, while his wife Suman Goel is posted in the Prime Ministers’ security wing.

Besides, a 1980-batch IAS officer Naini Jayaseelan has reported to the Delhi Government but the Government has yet to assign posting. Jayaseelan was keen to get posting as Chief Secretary during the Arvind Kejriwal regime.

It may be noted that the MHA has expressed anguish over the manner in which the Delhi Government was not relieving officials who have been transferred last year. The matter was raised at the Joint Cadre Authority of MHA which deals AGMUT cadre officers. There are officials who were posted outside are reluctant to join the Delhi Government due to certain reasons.

According to sources, they feel that the Arvind Kejriwal Government do not trust in bureaucracy and their volunteers interfere in the day to day functioning of the Government.
