In view of the upcoming lok Sabha elections, the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Police have decided to maintain strict vigil on the border. The police and administration officials of the districts of both the States falling on the border have been asked to maintain continuous dialogue so that free and fair polling could be conducted.
The decision was taken at the inter-State border meeting of the officials on Saturday. Bhilwara Collector Ravikumar Turpur and SP Raghvendra Suhara, Chittorgarh Collector Ved Prakash and SP Prasanna Kumar Khemsara, Mandsaur Collector Shashank Mishra and SP Manoharlal Verma and Neemuch Collector Vikas Singh Narwal and SP Rudolf Alweris were present in the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that on the polling days - on April 16, 17, 23 and 24 - dry days would be declared by the administration in all the bordering districts. Strict vigil would be maintained on the people coming to either State and in order to maintain law and order, special drives would be launched to nab the criminals and execution of pending warrants.
It was discussed in detail as how to conduct the free and fair elections by maintaining law and order situation in both the States. The officials of Bhilwara and Chittorgarh districts of Rajasthan and Mandsaur and Neemuch districts exchanged the documents related to sensitive polling booths the in the districts. In the meeting it was also decided that the police station in-charge, tehsildar, SDM and SDOP would meet their counterparts in the
other State to further chalk out the strategy.
