'Ek Tuti Hui Kursi' staged at Kolkata

 Javed Zaidi’s play ‘Ek Tuti Hui Kursi’ was staged and splendidly performed at 4th National Theatre Festival ‘Jashn E Rang’ held at Kolkata.

The play Ek Tuti Hui Kursi is written by Isail Chunar and is translated by Uma Jhunjhunwala. Directed by a renowned theatre personality of the city Javed Zaidi the play was wondrously performed by the artists Sambhavana Theatre Group, Bhopal.Notably, the festival was organised by little Thesbian and was staged on March 28 at Sarat Sadan Auditorium, Howrah Kolkata. It was an eight day theatre festival under which the Javed Zaidi’s play was performed for the first time.

Artists Shahvez Sikander, Ansh Sinha and Samiksha Nigam gave outstanding performances and received much applause of the audience.Ek Tooti Hui Kursi attempts to symbolise life and its anecdotes through the journey of three friends and the non living articles they possess, namely a broken chair, a chair leg, an alarm clock, a holed bucket and a torn shoe.

The play begin with introducing three friends meet together one day, at a secluded and unknown place and then unfolds the drama that was hidden in their old relationship.One of them is in procession of a broken chair, the other has a leg of the chair and the third friend has an alarm clock.

Then there is a bucket with a hole and a torn shoe. Through symbolic presentations the play gave various meaningful messages.
