In a psychological boost to the party in the run-up to the lok Sabha polls, noted actor Amol Kolhe — who has endeared himself to television viewers across Maharashtra by playing the role of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji in serial Raja Shiv Chhatrapati – joined the Shiv Sena on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti.
A practising doctor from KEM Hospital in the city, Kohle joined the Shiv Sena in the presence of Sena president Uddhav Thackeray. Also present on the occasion of another popular television face Adesh Bandekar, who has been part of the Shiv Sena for some time now. Announcing his decision to join the Sena, Kolhe said: “I have become popular because of my role as Shivaji in a television serial.
Given that the Shiv Sena believes in the ideology of Shivaji, I have thought it fit to join the Sena”. Without naming the Raj Thackeray-led MNS, Kolhe said he preferred to join a party (Shiv Sena) which believed in showing the right way to Maharashtra than a party (read MNS) that was out to ruin the interests of Maharashtra.
