Two members elected to Sambalpur University Syndicate

The election of two members from the Senate to the Syndicate of the Sambalpur University was held at Jyoti Vihar at Burla on Tuesday.

Advocate and eminent social worker Durga Prasad Padhi and well-known environmental scientist Prof Sanjat Kumar Sahu were elected to the Syndicate for a period of three years.

There were four other candidates in the fray, Dr Chirabratta Dutta, Prasanna Kumar Sahu, both from Dalmia College of Rajgangpur, Pramod Swain from NAC College, Hirakud, and Janmejaya Behera from the Sambalpur University Class-IV  Employees’ Union.

The election was coordinated and monitored by university Vice-Chancellor Prof BC Barik and Registrar Prof SS Rath.

A meeting of the Syndicate held on the day discussed, among other items, matters of academic interest including Distance Education Programme, examination reforms and annual report.

However, due to some technical problems and paucity of time, the balance-sheet of the financial year 2011-12 could not be passed at the meeting, sources said.
