No proper arrangements at Mandi for wheat procurement, alleges Hooda
Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday alleged that every season, there is deliberate delay in starting the crop procurement and procurement is not started even on the fixed date. There is no arrangement of gunny bags in the mandis nor for lifting, due to which farmers have to bear the brunt. Every time they have to wait for several days to sell their crop. Most of the farmers have to sell their crop to private agencies at a rate much lower than the MSP,” the former CM said. Hooda further said that the government has announced to start wheat procurement from April 1, but as usual, somewhere tenders were not made for lifting, and somewhere even gunny bags were not given to the commission agents.
