VIT honoured with Careers360 Research Excellence Award

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has been honoured with the prestigious Careers360 Research Excellence Award in recognition of its achievements in academics and cutting-edge research.
The university was chosen for the accolade under the university category following a multidimensional assessment by Careers360. The evaluation encompassed six key domains: universities, engineering, law, medicine, management, and pharmacy. Winners were determined through a comprehensive analysis of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) parameters and Scopus scholarly output, reviewing performance over a five-year window from 2020 to 2025, with data compilation and review concluding in late August 2026.
The award ceremony took place recently in New Delhi during the India Research and Impact Summit. Dr Sekar Viswanathan, Vice President, VIT attended the event on behalf of VIT. Padma Shri JD Yadav, former Vice-Chancellor of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, presented the Research Excellence Award, which was gracefully received by VIT Vice-Chancellor VS Kanchana Baaskaran.
VIT Vice-President Sekar Viswanathan participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “From Labs to Legislation: How Should India Measure Research on Policy, Business and Social Impact?”.
The high-profile summit featured keynote addresses by prominent figures, including NITI Aayog member Abhay Karandikar, bringing together policymakers, chancellors, vice-chancellors, directors, and representatives from the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), alongside distinguished leaders from India’s higher education ecosystem.
