US plans massive retaliatory strikes on Iran if Hormuz shipping attacks continue: Report

The United States is reportedly preparing contingency plans for a significantly larger military response against Iran if attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz continue, acocrding to reports.
The report says Washington is considering targeting up to eight times more locations inside Iran than during its previous military operation. The proposed strikes would reportedly focus on military installations, missile launch sites, naval infrastructure, drone facilities and strategic command centres if Tehran or its allied groups continue to threaten international shipping.
The development comes amid heightened tensions following the recent Israel-Iran conflict and growing concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes. Any disruption in the waterway could severely impact global energy supplies and international trade.
According to the report, the US has conveyed its concerns through diplomatic channels while continuing to push for negotiations aimed at restoring stability in the region, ensuring uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and addressing Iran's nuclear programme.
The report also notes that American military planners have intensified preparations as Iran's leadership continues to issue warnings against foreign intervention. While no decision on military action has been announced, US officials have indicated that all options remain on the table if maritime security is threatened further.
The situation remains fluid, with global powers closely monitoring developments amid fears that any escalation could widen the conflict across the Middle East and disrupt international oil markets.
