Tripura makes singing of Vande Mataram and National Anthem mandatory in all schools

The Tripura government has made the singing of the full version of the national song 'Vande Mataram', followed by the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana', compulsory in all schools across the state, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Tuesday.
In a Facebook post, Saha said the decision has been taken in line with the Ministry of Home Affairs' guidelines on maintaining the dignity, decorum and official rendition of the national song. He said the move aims to promote national integration and foster respect for national symbols among students.
According to the Chief Minister, the School Education Department will implement the directive uniformly in all government, government-aided and private schools, including government-aided and unaided recognised madrassas operating in the state.
Under the new directive, the daily academic routine in schools will begin with the singing of the full version of 'Vande Mataram', followed by the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'.
Saha said the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs call for proper protocol to be observed during the singing of the national song at formal, semi-formal and educational events to uphold national pride and preserve its cultural significance.
The Chief Minister added that the decision was approved by the Tripura Council of Ministers during its meeting held on June 25 and will now be implemented across all educational institutions in the state.
