TGSRTC bus crashes into petrol bunk on Hyderabad outskirts, no injuries reported
A major accident was narrowly averted on the city’s outskirts on Thursday, September 10, after a TGSRTC bus veered off the road and crashed into a petrol bunk at Batasingaram in Abdullapurmet, damaging vehicles and fuel dispensing equipment. No injuries were reported.
The bus, belonging to the Dilsukhnagar depot, was headed towards Choutuppal when the driver reportedly lost control around 11 am while trying to avoid an auto-rickshaw, Asianet Newsable reported.
Overspeeding is also being examined as a possible factor, according to Telangana Today.
The bus crashed into the petrol station, hitting a parked car and an auto before ramming into the diesel dispensing area and damaging pump equipment, Asianet Newsable reported.
CCTV footage captured the bus veering off the road and entering the petrol bunk premises, triggering panic among staff and customers, according to Deccan Chronicle. Some people fled as the bus approached.
No fuel leaked from the damaged units, averting a potentially more serious incident. All passengers got off the bus safely, with no injuries reported among passengers or bystanders.
Following a complaint by the petrol pump manager, Abdullapurmet police registered a case under Section 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and booked the driver, identified as Pratap Reddy, for rash and negligent driving, Siasat reported.
Police said Reddy was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
TGSRTC will conduct an internal inquiry to question Reddy about the circumstances leading to the crash, according to Siasat.
