Raja Raghuvanshi murder case: Supreme Court allows Sonam Raghuvanshi to remain on bail

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Although the court expressed initial concerns over the Meghalaya High Court's decision, it decided not to suspend the bail since Sonam had already been released. However, the apex court agreed to hear the Meghalaya government's petition challenging the bail order.
During the hearing, the state argued that the High Court had granted bail mainly because of a typographical error in the arrest memo, calling the decision legally flawed. The Supreme Court issued a notice to Sonam Raghuvanshi, asking her to respond to the state's appeal. The matter is expected to be heard in detail next week.
The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case has attracted nationwide attention since investigators alleged that Sonam conspired to kill her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
While the trial will continue, the Supreme Court's decision means Sonam will remain out on bail until the matter is decided. The case remains under close public and legal scrutiny.
