Rahul Gandhi demands Judicial probe, SIT into CBSE OSM ‘Scam'
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded an independent judicial inquiry and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged irregularities surrounding the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
Calling it a “massive scam”, Gandhi alleged that the CBSE examination results had left lakhs of students and parents shocked due to discrepancies in marks and answer sheet issues.
In a post on X, the Leader of Opposition questioned why the contract for the OSM system was awarded to COEMPT, a company he claimed was previously involved in controversies under the name Globarena in Telangana in 2019.
“The CBSE examination results have been marred by massive irregularities. This is not a mistake — it is a calculated conspiracy,” Gandhi alleged.
He asked the government who authorised the contract, whether rules were bypassed, and why background verification of the company was not conducted despite its past controversies.
“What exactly is the relationship between COEMPT management and the Modi government?” Gandhi asked.
The Congress leader also demanded immediate constitution of an independent judicial inquiry and an SIT to uncover the truth behind the alleged scam and identify those responsible.
Addressing students appearing for CBSE examinations, Gandhi said no one would be allowed to “steal the fruits of their hard work” and assured them that the matter would be pursued thoroughly.
The Congress party also intensified its attack on the Centre and reiterated its demand for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the controversy.
The issue gained momentum after several Class 12 students alleged discrepancies in their results and claimed that scanned copies of answer sheets uploaded by CBSE did not match their handwriting, raising concerns over possible answer-sheet mismatches in the OSM system.
CBSE sources, however, stated that all complaints are being treated with top priority and necessary reviews are being conducted.
