FIR filed against Punjab Kings Cricketer Shashank Singh, father after cook alleges assault

An FIR has been registered against Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh, his father Shailesh Singh, a retired senior police officer, and their family driver following allegations of assault and verbal abuse made by a domestic cook in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
According to the complaint, the cook, identified as Vipendra Singh Tomar, was hired by the Singh family a few days before the alleged incident. He claimed he was promised a monthly salary along with food and accommodation but soon faced repeated criticism over his work.
Tomar alleged that after expressing his desire to quit the job, his mobile phone was taken away. He further claimed that when he asked for the phone to be returned, Shashank Singh, his father, and their driver allegedly entered his room, verbally abused him, physically assaulted him, and forced him out of the house. He later approached the Ratibad police station, where an FIR was registered based on his complaint.
Police have booked the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to voluntarily causing hurt, use of abusive language, and common intention. Authorities said the allegations are being investigated and further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of IPL cricketer Shashank Singh and his father, who previously served as a senior IPS officer in Madhya Pradesh. As of now, there has been no official public statement from Shashank Singh or his family regarding the allegations.
