PTI announces nationwide protest movement from August 5 for Imran Khan's release

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will launch a nationwide protest movement from August 5, marking three years since former Prime Minister Imran Khan was jailed. The decision was taken during a meeting of the party's parliamentary leadership chaired by interim PTI chief Barrister Gohar Ali Khan in Islamabad.
The campaign will focus on demanding Khan's release and pressing for what the party describes as justice and political reforms. PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja said the movement will include public rallies, demonstrations and a long march.
He added that opposition leaders, including Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, would be consulted before finalising the protest strategy. Barrister Gohar also expressed concern over the health of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, claiming that the former prime minister was not receiving justice.
The party also dismissed reports that it planned to end its boycott of parliamentary standing committees, reiterating that any such decision would only be taken after consulting Imran Khan. PTI leaders are expected to intensify preparations for the August campaign as political tensions continue in Pakistan.
