Probe ordered after two Govt quarters allegedly disappear in Gujarat village

A controversy has surfaced in Jadar village of Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district after two Government residential quarters reportedly vanished from their original location, prompting authorities to order an official inquiry into the matter.
The missing quarters, reportedly meant for an extension officer and a gram sevak, became the centre of public attention after a video related to the issue circulated widely on social media. The incident has triggered questions over the disappearance of the Government properties and possible irregularities linked to the case.
The matter pertains to Jadar village in Idar taluka, where residents claim that the structures no longer exist at the site and the land has been left vacant. Following written representations regarding the issue, the Taluka Development Officer has directed a detailed investigation.
Officials have reportedly instructed that an inquiry report be submitted within seven days following communication from the Prant Officer. The investigation is expected to determine how the quarters were removed and whether any rules or procedures were violated.
Amid growing public discussion, the Jadar Gram Panchayat has clarified that the quarters were not under the control of the panchayat and denied any involvement in demolishing the structures.
Local discussions suggest that the quarters may have been demolished using heavy machinery and that debris was later cleared from the site. However, authorities are yet to officially confirm these claims.
The Taluka Development Officer has ordered strict action against anyone found responsible for damage to Government property. Further legal steps are expected after the submission of the inquiry report.
