PM Modi, Anthony Albanese share historic selfie as India-Australia ties reach new milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shared a selfie following their bilateral engagements in Melbourne, symbolising the growing strategic and economic partnership between India and Australia.
The photograph was taken after the two leaders participated in the India-Australia CEO Forum and the Economic Roadmap Business Reception during the second leg of PM Modi's three-nation tour. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, infrastructure and emerging technologies.
Sharing the selfie on social media, PM Modi described it as a reflection of the strong friendship between the two countries, while emphasising the shared commitment to deepen cooperation across key sectors.
During the visit, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and enhancing collaboration in defence, maritime security, supply chains and innovation, amid growing geopolitical and economic challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
PM Modi is on an official visit to Australia as part of his three-nation tour covering Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, aimed at expanding India's engagement with key Indo-Pacific partners.
