MP emerging as preferred tech hub: CM

Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for technology-driven industries and investments, with its strategic location, strong infrastructure, surplus power availability and investor-friendly policies creating a favourable industrial ecosystem, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said during a roundtable interaction with investors in Bengaluru.
The interaction was organised to attract investments in the Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) being developed in Gwalior. Yadav said that in the last nearly three years, investments worth more than Rs 15 lakh crore have reached the State across various sectors, reflecting growing confidence among investors in Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that timely decision-making and identifying opportunities are key qualities of successful entrepreneurs. He added that the positive response received during investor meetings in Delhi and Mumbai reflects the strengthening trust of the industry in Madhya Pradesh.
Highlighting the importance of the Gwalior Telecom Manufacturing Zone, Yadav said the project represents a new model of cooperation between the Union and State Governments in the telecom sector. The zone will create an integrated value chain covering design, development, manufacturing, testing, certification and exports. Products including 5G and 6G equipment, optical fibre, IoT-based devices and satellite communication equipment will be manufactured in the facility.
He said Madhya Pradesh has witnessed strong investor response in its industrial parks. The PM Mitra Mega Textile Park in Dhar and the Renewable Energy Equipment Park in Mohasa-Babai received overwhelming demand, with available plots being booked in different phases.
Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said Gwalior is being developed as the country’s first dedicated Telecom Manufacturing Zone, bringing together all major telecom verticals, including OEMs, optical fibre cable manufacturing, data centres, semiconductor chipsets, active and passive components, telecom services and electronics manufacturing.
Scindia said the objective is to move India from a service-driven economy towards a product-driven economy with a focus on “Design in India”, “Make for India” and “Make for the World”. He highlighted that the telecom zone has received an attractive incentive package, including support for capital expenditure, electricity and skill development.
The project has already received encouraging investor response. Around 24 companies have initiated the application process for setting up telecom manufacturing units, with investment commitments exceeding Rs 5,500 crore and potential employment generation of more than 17,000 jobs.
Officials informed that the zone is being developed through a 51:49 joint SPV between the Central Government and Madhya Pradesh Government. The project will include a common testing and certification laboratory for 5G, IoT and satellite equipment, developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 500 crore. Investors will receive incentives including developed land, stamp duty exemption, capital subsidy, electricity subsidy and skill training support.
