Meta Layoffs: Mark Zuckerberg Shares Message for Affected Employees

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg addressed employees through an internal message as the company began a new round of layoffs affecting thousands of workers globally.
In his message, Zuckerberg acknowledged the emotional impact of the decision and expressed concern for employees affected by the restructuring process.
He reportedly said that he “feels the weight” of the situation and is spending significant time ensuring the process is handled respectfully and thoughtfully.
The layoffs are part of Meta’s broader restructuring and efficiency strategy as the company increases its investments in artificial intelligence and reorganises teams.
Reports indicate that approximately 10% of Meta’s workforce is expected to be impacted, while thousands of employees are also being reassigned to AI-focused roles and smaller team structures.
According to reports, employees who lost their roles received emails informing them about the decision along with details regarding severance packages, visa assistance, healthcare support, and alumni resources.
The company has stated that the restructuring aims to create a leaner and more efficient operating model.
Zuckerberg also reassured employees that he does not currently expect additional company-wide layoffs during the remainder of 2026, though targeted restructuring in specific divisions may still take place.
The changes reflect Meta’s increasing focus on artificial intelligence and future technology investments.
