Marandi slams Jharkhand Govt on exam scrapping

Jharkhand’s Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Tuesday alleged that the JMM-led Government is “cheating agitating students” by announcing the cancellation of recruitment exams and demanded a probe by the CBI.
The BJP leader said that reports are emerging about irregularities in both the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), and alleged that jobs were sold by both agencies, compromising the rights of the State’s students and aspirants.
The Jharkhand Government on Monday announced the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam and all recruitment tests conducted by outsourced agency TDPL since 2014.
“The Hemant Soren Government is cheating the students by announcing the cancellation of the examination. When the Government knows that the agitators want an investigation by the CBI, why is it then backing out? It is clear from this that the people sitting in the Government are also involved in selling jobs,” said Marandi, a former chief minister.
The BJP has maintained a clear position from the very beginning that the CBI should investigate the entire matter, since evidence is gradually appearing that both agencies sold jobs, he claimed.
The same CID that had investigated cases of irregularities earlier had not taken any action, he claimed.
Marandi also alleged this is the same CID that, after investigating for a few days, misled even the High Court into believing that no irregularities had occurred.
No action has been taken against the senior officers of the investigating agency who led the probe in the wrong direction, he claimed.
“The Government should make it clear why no action has been taken against the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission chairman so far, even though they have been in position since 2024,” he said.
The Government should not talk irrelevantly when students are raising their voice for a CBI probe.
“Therefore, I feel that they will not get justice with anything less than this,” he said.
