Maharashtra Reports Rising Heatstroke Cases as Children Collapse Amid Soaring Temperatures

Maharashtra is witnessing an intense heatwave, with rising temperatures causing growing health concerns across several districts.
Reports indicate an increase in heatstroke cases, while doctors and health experts have raised alarms over children collapsing due to extreme heat exposure and dehydration.
The situation has become a major public health concern as temperatures continue to remain unusually high in many regions.
According to reports, Maharashtra has recorded over 220 heatstroke cases this season, with a number of districts experiencing severe heat conditions.
Areas across Vidarbha and other parts of the state have recorded temperatures above 40°C, creating difficult conditions for outdoor workers, school-going children, commuters, and vulnerable populations.
Medical experts have stated that prolonged exposure to heat can lead to dehydration, dizziness, fainting, exhaustion, and in severe cases, heatstroke-related complications.
Children and elderly individuals are considered particularly vulnerable because their bodies can struggle to regulate temperature during extreme weather conditions.
Authorities and health officials are advising people to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, drink adequate water, wear light clothing, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as weakness, nausea, or confusion appear.
Hospitals and healthcare facilities have also been increasing preparedness measures to manage heat-related illnesses.
