Lucknow Professor arrested over harassment said "Leaked papers for you darling" to a student

A Lucknow University assistant professor has been arrested after a woman student accused him of harassment and offering leaked examination papers in exchange for personal favours.
The accused, identified as Paramjit Singh, was taken into custody after audio recordings submitted by the student allegedly revealed objectionable conversations related to leaked exam papers and repeated coercion to meet him before examinations.
According to the complaint, the B.Sc zoology student submitted multiple audio clips to the university administration. In the recordings, the professor can allegedly be heard pressuring the student to visit him while claiming to have arranged leaked question papers for her.
The controversy has triggered concerns over both student harassment and examination integrity, especially amid the ongoing national debate surrounding the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak case.
Following the complaint, the university administration constituted an inquiry committee, while the Controller of Examinations lodged a formal police complaint. Vice Chancellor JP Saini directed the Internal Complaints Committee to submit its report within 24 hours.
The accused professor has denied all allegations, claiming he is being falsely implicated due to internal university politics.
Meanwhile, activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged protests on the university campus demanding strict action against the accused. Student leaders urged authorities to invoke stringent provisions related to sexual harassment and examination malpractice.
Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
