LDF accuses UDF of political vendetta, alleges Cong-BJP nexus

The LDF on Sunday accused the UDF Government of pursuing a campaign of “political vendetta” since assuming office and said that several recent administrative decisions violated established norms and democratic practices.
In a statement, LDF convenor TP Ramakrishnan alleged that transfers of officials were being carried out at the behest of pro-government organisations, disregarding established criteria and procedures.
“It has not even been a full month since the UDF assumed power in Kerala. Since taking office, numerous actions have already been taken as part of a political vendetta,” he alleged.
Ramakrishnan also criticised the Government’s handling of communicable disease outbreaks, including Nipah, and questioned the transfer of the Director of Health Services (DHS).
“When infectious diseases, including Nipah, broke out in the past, the models demonstrated by Kerala to combat them were recognised worldwide. Disregarding these experiences, the actions taken by Health Minister K Muraleedharan have already triggered intense protests,” he said.
He alleged that the DHS, who was responsible for coordinating disease-control activities, had been transferred and demoted based on “fabricated allegations.”
The LDF leader said the Opposition was prepared to support all genuine efforts to contain infectious diseases. “We will extend support to all correct measures taken to prevent epidemics,” he added.
Ramakrishnan also targeted the Government over a series of appointments made after it assumed office.
He referred to the appointment of a close relative of Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph as Additional Private Secretary and alleged that the appointment had to be withdrawn following public criticism.
He further alleged that the appointment of Advocate KB Pradeep as Special Pleader for the Devaswom Department was aimed at weakening a gold loss case in which the lawyer had appeared for an accused. Although the lawyer had resigned from the post, Ramakrishnan said the Government must clarify whether any information related to the case had been accessed or leaked during the period of appointment.
