Karnataka Congress calls CLP meeting on Saturday after Siddaramaiah exit

The Karnataka Congress has convened a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Saturday amid the ongoing leadership transition in the state following the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The meeting is expected to formalise the next leadership arrangement and discuss the future course of the Congress government in Karnataka.
The development comes a day after Siddaramaiah stepped down from the Chief Minister’s post following directions from the Congress high command. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is widely expected to take over as the next Chief Minister as the party works to ensure a smooth transition and maintain unity within the organisation.
Senior Congress leaders and MLAs are expected to attend the crucial CLP meeting, where discussions over cabinet formation and government strategy are also likely to take place. The leadership change follows weeks of political speculation and internal discussions within the Karnataka Congress unit.
The Congress leadership has maintained that the transition is being carried out in a constitutional and democratic manner while focusing on political stability in the state ahead of future electoral challenges.
