IRCTC blocks 3.03 crore fake IDs to curb fraud, launches new UI

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has blocked 3.03 crore suspicious user IDs in 2025 to prevent misuse of the online booking system and to curb potential fraudulent bookings in Tatkal ticket booking. To provide a seamless booking experience, IRCTC has introduced Aadhaar-linked rules for Tatkal and Advance Reservation Period bookings.
IRCTC has introduced significant user interface (UI) enhancements on its rail-ticket-booking website, www.irctc.co.in, and the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile application. The new interface features a cleaner design, intuitive navigation, and quicker loading times. Passengers can now book tickets more easily, thanks to Aadhaar verification, which prevents misuse and ensures fair allocation.
To further strengthen the robustness and reliability of the ticketing platform, IRCTC has implemented security measures, including a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Anti-BOT technology, to filter out malicious traffic and improve server response times.
Additionally, 4.86 crore suspicious user IDs have been placed under revalidation, and 12,819 suspicious email domains have been blocked. The corporation has also reported 3.99 lakh suspicious PNRs on the National Cyber Crime Portal, further strengthening its anti-fraud mechanisms.
These measures are expected to significantly improve the overall ticket booking experience, making it faster, simpler, and more secure for millions of railway passengers. With the elimination of fake profiles and enhanced security, genuine passengers can now book tickets with ease.
The IRCTC’s citizen-first approach is likely to benefit passengers, making ticket booking a hassle-free experience. The introduction of Aadhaar-based verification has effectively prevented the creation and operation of unauthorised user accounts, acting as a safeguard against misuse.
This has ensured fair allocation of Tatkal and ARP tickets, significantly improving ticket availability for genuine passengers. IRCTC’s efforts to strengthen cyber security and implement Aadhaar-based bookings are aimed at providing a smooth and secure booking experience for genuine passengers. Overall, IRCTC’s initiatives are expected to bring a smile to the faces of genuine railway passengers, making ticket booking a seamless and enjoyable experience.
