Indian Army holds mega ex-servicemen rally in Nagaland

The Indian Army’s Red Shield Division, under the Spear Corps, organised a mega Ex-Servicemen (ESM) rally for Tri-Services veterans at the Kisama Heritage Village in Kohima on Tuesday. The event saw the participation of around 700 veterans, Veer Naris, and Next of Kin (NoK), alongside local residents and youth.
Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, GOC-in-C Spear Corps, Major General Shubhankar Basu, GOC Red Shield Division, and other senior military officials.
The rally, supported by the Nagaland Government and the Ministry of Tourism, focused on resolving pension anomalies, providing medical aid, and extending financial support to the families of fallen heroes. In a gesture to boost local infrastructure, a tourist bus was handed over to the State Tourism Department during the proceedings.

“The Indian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare and dignity of our veterans and their families,” an official statement noted.
Several facilitation stalls were set up by medical, banking, insurance, and HR agencies to provide on-the-spot assistance regarding welfare schemes. The Army also distributed assistive equipment, including wheelchairs, hearing aids, and heat therapy devices.
The event featured vibrant cultural displays, including Mallakhamb by Maratha soldiers, Bhangra by Sikh troops, and Chendamelam by the Madras Regiment. Distinguished veterans were also felicitated for their service to the nation.
