The Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) successfully concluded a joint training programme and Joint Coordinating Conference in Arunachal Pradesh on June 24, aimed at enhancing interoperability and operational readiness along the country’s sensitive frontier regions.
The exercise was conducted by the Spearhead Division under the Spear Corps of the Indian Army in conjunction with ITBP personnel operating in the challenging mountainous terrain of Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative reaffirmed the spirit of jointness between the two forces and strengthened tactical-level coordination in border management operations.
The training programme focused on improving operational coordination, combat preparedness and mission-specific capabilities.
Personnel from both forces participated in a range of activities, including mountain warfare drills, route familiarisation exercises, communication procedures, casualty evacuation techniques and joint response mechanisms.
Operating in demanding terrain and weather conditions, troops rehearsed various operational contingencies and refined coordinated response strategies considered essential for effective frontier security and border management.
According to defence officials, the exercise highlighted the seamless integration between the Indian Army and ITBP, fostering greater mutual understanding and enhancing their ability to operate together in complex operational environments.
The training also provided an opportunity for both forces to exchange best practices and strengthen cooperation in addressing emerging security challenges.
The Joint Coordinating Conference held alongside the training programme further facilitated discussions on operational coordination, information sharing and measures to improve joint preparedness in the region.
The successful culmination of the exercise reflects the continued commitment of the Indian Army and ITBP to safeguarding the nation’s borders through teamwork, professionalism and a shared sense of purpose.
