‘Toxic’ mints Rs 108 crore on opening day in India, makers say

Yash-starrer "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups" has registered a strong opening at the Indian box office, collecting Rs 108 crore net on its first day across all languages except English, the makers said on Thursday, August 27.

The pan-India film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, was released in theatres on Wednesday in Kannada along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and several other languages.

The Kannada action drama, reportedly made on a budget of more than Rs 500 crore, recorded a particularly strong performance in the Hindi market.

According to the makers, "Toxic" earned Rs 55.4 crore net in Hindi on its opening day, surpassing the Rs 53.95 crore first-day collection of Yash's 2022 blockbuster "KGF: Chapter 2".

Details of the film's overseas box office earnings are yet to be announced.

Yash plays dual roles as Raya and Ticket in "Toxic", which presents the actor in a new avatar. The makers said his screen presence, action sequences and larger-than-life portrayal have emerged among the highlights of the film.

The movie also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in key roles.
