India to host global steel leaders at Bharat Steel 2026

The Ministry of Steel is all prepared to host Bharat Steel 2026, a landmark two-day summit scheduled for 16–17 April in New Delhi, bringing together some of the world’s most influential voices in the steel industry. The gathering will convene over 100 speakers, more than 700 delegates and upwards of 200 exhibitors spanning the entire steel value chain. From mining and raw materials to logistics and downstream manufacturing.
Governments, foreign delegations, technology innovators and investors are all expected to attend, as the capital positions itself at the heart of the global steel supply chain conversation.
The summit arrives at a pivotal moment for India’s steel sector as according to provisional Government figures, the country’s finished steel exports surged 36.6% year-on-year to 6.02 million metric tonnes in the first 11 months of financial year 2025–26, whilst crude steel production climbed 11.2% over the same period to 153.61 million metric tonnes.
Sandeep Poundrik, Secretary of the Ministry of Steel, described the event as “an important industry gathering to discuss critical aspects of the global steel supply chain, including the impact of tariffs, trade policies, technology disruptions, raw material security and logistics infrastructure.”
The speaker line-up reflects the summit’s considerable global ambition with among those confirmed to address the forum are Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Group; Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and Member of Parliament; Anil Agarwal, Non-Executive Chairman of Vedanta Limited; Takahiro Mori, Representative Director and Vice Chairman of Nippon Steel Corporation; and Dr Jennifer Holmgren, Chief Executive of carbon-recycling firm LanzaTech, alongside senior figures from ABB, Danieli, and SMS Group.
With the global steel industry navigating a period of profound transformation shaped by decarbonisation pressures, shifting trade flow and technological disruption — Bharat Steel 2026 looks set to be a forum where consequential decisions begin to take shape.
