India criticises Pakistan at UNSC, highlights “Long-Tainted Record of Genocidal Acts”

India strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), accusing it of having a “long-tainted record of genocidal acts” and using violence to divert attention from its internal challenges.
The remarks were made by India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, during the Annual UNSC Open Debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict.
The statement came after Pakistan raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during the debate. Responding to the remarks, India stated that matters related to Jammu and Kashmir are internal issues and criticised Pakistan for attempting to internationalise them.
Ambassador Parvathaneni argued that Pakistan has repeatedly used violence and cross-border activities as a means of shifting focus from domestic issues.
India also referred to reported incidents involving civilian casualties in Afghanistan and cited data from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
The Indian envoy alleged that cross-border violence and military actions had led to large-scale civilian suffering and displacement.
Further, India referred to historical events including the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War and accused Pakistan of a pattern of actions affecting civilian populations.
The remarks highlighted continuing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan at international forums.
