IIT Kanpur wins NTPC’s Electron Quiz 2025 title

The team from IIT Kanpur emerged as the winner of the National Finale of NTPC’s Electron Quiz 2025, held on December 19 at the company’s Power Management Institute (PMI) in Noida. The duo — Aditya Padhi and Sparsh Pradeep Jain — bagged the top spot with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh after a closely fought contest among premier engineering and management institutes. The first runner-up position went to IIM Lucknow’s Prashant Singh Chauhan and Nishchay Shopurkar, who received Rs 60,000, while IIM Calcutta’s Kumar Kirti and Sivadharshan S took the third spot, winning Rs 40,000. The quiz saw participation from over 600 teams across nine cities, with regional rounds held in Ranchi, Raipur, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kolkata, Patna, Hyderabad, Chennai and Noida between November 22 and December 17. The finalists advanced through semi-finals on December 18 before competing in the national finale. Anil Kumar Jadli, Director (HR), NTPC, said the Electron Quiz has grown into a prestigious intellectual platform that connects the company with leading academic institutions. He noted that the quiz fosters a culture of knowledge, excellence and engagement among young minds. Electron Quiz is NTPC’s flagship event aimed at promoting analytical thinking and academic collaboration. NTPC, India’s largest integrated power utility with an installed capacity of over 85 GW, supplies nearly a quarter of the country’s electricity. The firm plans to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 in line with India’s Net Zero goals.
