IAF AN-32 transport Aircraft crashes during landing at Jorhat Air Force station in Assam

An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed and caught fire while landing at the Air Force Station in Jorhat on Saturday morning, triggering an emergency response operation within the military base.
According to initial reports, the aircraft went down inside the Air Force Station premises during the landing process. The impact led to a fire, with thick smoke seen rising from the crash site. Emergency teams were immediately deployed to contain the blaze and secure the area.
The Indian Air Force confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash. Officials have not yet released details regarding casualties or injuries, and an assessment of the situation is currently underway.
The AN-32 is one of the Indian Air Force's primary transport aircraft and is widely used for logistical operations, troop movement and supply missions in difficult terrains. Designed to operate in extreme weather conditions, including high-altitude and tropical environments, the aircraft has long served as a key component of India's military transport fleet.

The crash comes months after a fatal IAF fighter jet accident in Assam. In March this year, a Sukhoi Su-30MKI crashed in Karbi Anglong district following a routine sortie from Jorhat Air Force Station, resulting in the deaths of two pilots.
Further details regarding Saturday's AN-32 crash are awaited as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
