Hyderabad Police book 12 BDS students for alleged ragging at Osmania Medical College

Hyderabad Police have registered a case against 12 Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) students for allegedly ragging junior students at the Government Dental College and Hospital, affiliated with Osmania Medical College.
The incident reportedly came to light after first-year students lodged complaints alleging harassment by senior students.
According to reports, the accused are final-year BDS students. Following the complaints, the college administration initiated disciplinary action and suspended the students for six months pending further inquiry. Police have also booked them under relevant provisions of anti-ragging laws and launched an investigation into the matter.
Authorities said they are examining the allegations and recording statements from those involved. The incident has once again highlighted concerns about ragging in professional educational institutions despite strict anti-ragging regulations and awareness campaigns.
College officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students and stated that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven.
