HP CM directs developing nutrition policy

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday directed the health department to formulate a nutrition policy before May 31 this year.

Presiding over a meeting of senior officers of the health department here, he said there is a need to create widespread awareness among the people regarding the nutritional value of food to achieve the vision of a ‘Fit Himachal’, a statement issued here said.

He said Himachal Pradesh is set to become the first state in the country to formulate such a comprehensive policy.

He also maintained that digitisation in the health department is important to make patient records available online, saying that it will enable people to receive faster and easier healthcare services.
Sukhu said that with this system, patients will not need to carry paper registration slips or medical test reports.
