Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh has announced an ex-gratia assistance of ₹2 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the recent fire incident at Rohtak’s D-Park market area.
The devastating blaze, which broke out on June 9 in one of the city’s oldest and busiest commercial zones, claimed three lives and caused extensive damage to multiple shops and business establishments.
In an official statement, the Governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
The Governor directed the district administration to ensure free and adequate medical treatment for all injured persons in government hospitals. He further instructed the Rohtak Deputy Commissioner to carry out a detailed assessment of the damage caused by the fire and submit a comprehensive report to the state government.
The Ashim Kumar Ghosh emphasized the need for swift relief measures and directed officials to ensure that all affected families receive timely assistance and support.
Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had also announced compensation measures for victims, including ₹10 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹2 lakh for the injured, along with additional support for those impacted by the fire.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the exact cause of the fire, which remains undetermined. Officials said a detailed probe is underway to assess whether safety lapses or other factors contributed to the incident.
The tragedy has raised concerns over fire safety measures in crowded commercial markets, with calls for stricter enforcement of safety norms in urban business hubs.
