Guru Ravidas Teachings Guide Humanity says Haryana CM

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said Guru Ravidas’ vision of a society free from sorrow, injustice and discrimination continues to guide humanity, and called for his teachings of equality, service and social harmony to be put into practice.
Saini was speaking at a ceremony for the installation of Guru Ravidas’ idol and inauguration of a newly built temple dedicated to him at Jadaula village in
Kaithal district.
Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and former Rajya Sabha MP and programme coordinator Ishwar Singh were also present.
The chief minister announced a grant of Rs 31 lakh for the Sant Guru Ravidas Welfare Committee on the occasion.
“Installing Guru Ravidas’ statue is a resolve to imbibe his thoughts, values and the path shown by him in our hearts,” Saini said.
He said Guru Ravidas had envisioned ‘Begampura’ as a city where there was no place for sorrow, injustice or discrimination, adding that the state Government was working in the same spirit towards social harmony and upliftment of the poorest.
“By fostering the spirit of service to humanity, upliftment of the underprivileged and social harmony in our lives, we can pay true tribute to Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji,” he said.
Saini urged people to follow Guru Ravidas’ teachings and strengthen mutual love, harmony and social cohesion.
He said saints and great spiritual personalities had always shown society the path of truth, service, harmony and brotherhood.
The chief minister also said that a grand Guru Ravidas Dham was being constructed on approximately five acres at Umri in Kurukshetra at a cost of Rs 124 crore to take Guru Ravidas’ teachings to the masses and promote social harmony.
Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the ‘Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ across the country to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas.
As part of the campaign, a sacred Kalash yatra carrying soil from Guru Ravidas’ birthplace in Varanasi is being taken out. The yatra began on July 29 and will also travel across Haryana, he said.
The chief minister said the Haryana Government was working equally for the development and upliftment of all sections of society in accordance with Guru Ravidas’ teachings.
He said the Government had adopted a transparent recruitment policy to provide talented youth an opportunity to enter Government service and that more than two lakh youths had been provided Government jobs on merit over the last 12 years.
He also said the Haryana State Commission for Scheduled Castes had been constituted for protection of the rights of the Scheduled Caste community.
Meghwal said Guru Ravidas had given society the message of equality, brotherhood and human welfare and that his thoughts continued to provide direction to society.
He said the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution had been inspired by Indian philosophy and the tradition of saints.
Meghwal said Guru Ravidas had envisioned a society where everyone had access to food and there was no distinction between the rich and the poor.
“This spirit of equality and brotherhood has remained an integral part of the basic consciousness of Indian society,” he said.
He said Prime Minister Modi was ensuring the provision of foodgrains to the poor through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
The state Government was also effectively implementing welfare-oriented schemes, Meghwal said.
