Gujarat on high alert over Ebola

The Gujarat Government has stepped up surveillance and preparedness measures following reports of Ebola cases in parts of Africa, even as officials confirmed that no case has been detected in India so far.
State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya reassured citizens that there is no cause for panic, emphasising that the health department is fully equipped to handle any potential situation. He noted that guidelines and standard operating procedures issued by the central health authorities are being strictly implemented across the State.
The alert comes amid reports of Ebola infections in countries such as Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan.
A high-level review meeting chaired by the minister was held at Swarnim Sankul-2 in Gandhinagar.
