Economic policy shapes growth trajectory: CM Mohan Yadav

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday said a nation’s economic policy determines the direction, stability and sustainability of its development, as he outlined Madhya Pradesh’s industrial and investment priorities at the World Hindu Economic Forum Conference 2025 in Mumbai.
Addressing the conference, Dr Yadav said India’s economy had expanded over the past decade despite global disruptions and was now positioned to move beyond a domestic manufacturing focus towards a larger global role. He said policy reforms and investor confidence had contributed to economic resilience and sustained growth. Referring to Madhya Pradesh, the chief minister said the state government was seeking to attract investment by simplifying procedures and providing policy-backed support. He said assistance would be extended in line with investor requirements and claimed the state had not witnessed industrial unrest. Dr Yadav said the state had introduced 18 new industrial policies across sectors, including manufacturing, textiles, information technology and start-ups.
He cited the PM Mega Textile Park in Dhar district and said policy frameworks had also been created for global capability centres, with additional support being extended to start-ups. According to figures cited by the chief minister, more than 20.43 lakh MSME units are operating in Madhya Pradesh.
He said over the past three years, more than 4.26 lakh manufacturing units had been established, generating investments of over Rs 66,000 crore and creating more than one crore jobs. The figures were presented as official estimates.
Dr Yadav also referred to expansion in tourism, agriculture, renewable energy and information technology. He said the state had recorded a rise in tourist arrivals in 2024 and described Madhya Pradesh as a surplus power State with growing renewable energy capacity.
On infrastructure, he referred to metro projects in Bhopal and Indore and said connectivity was being strengthened through airports, logistics networks and metropolitan region planning. He also cited recent and proposed investments in defence manufacturing, food processing and petrochemicals. The chief minister said a major programme was scheduled in Gwalior on December 25, where projects with an estimated outlay of Rs 2.5 lakh crore would be inaugurated or launched.
He invited industry representatives to attend the Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit, which he said would mark the conclusion of the state’s “industry and employment year”. Business leaders, policymakers, economists and academics from India and abroad attended the conference.
