Delhi Weather Update: Orange Alert Issued for Rain, Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several parts of New Delhi, forecasting moderate thunderstorms, rainfall, gusty winds, and the possibility of hailstorms.
Cloudy conditions prevailed across the national capital on Tuesday, with alerts covering multiple regions including Central, West, North West, North East, Shahdara, East, and parts of South and South West Delhi. The advisory is in place for the next few hours as weather activity intensifies.
The IMD has predicted a maximum temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius, with rainfall and thunderstorms expected later in the day.
Weather expert Mahesh Palawat noted that temperatures are likely to remain below normal due to widespread rainfall across north India. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue for the next one to two days.
Meanwhile, air quality in Delhi showed improvement, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 69 in the morning, falling in the ‘satisfactory’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
As per CPCB standards, an AQI between 0–50 is considered ‘good’, 51–100 ‘satisfactory’, 101–200 ‘moderate’, 201–300 ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and 401–500 ‘severe’.
Residents have been advised to stay alert and take precautions as thunderstorms and strong winds may affect normal activities in parts of the city.
