Delhi Traffic Alert: Ashram Chowk–Ring Road closed for 4 days, severe jams on DND corridor

A major traffic disruption has hit Delhi after authorities closed a key stretch of Ring Road between Maharani Bagh and Ashram Chowk for emergency repair work, leading to severe congestion across South Delhi and the DND Flyway corridor.
According to a Delhi Traffic Police advisory, the carriageway will remain completely shut for approximately three to four days starting late June 15 to allow repair of a damaged 1,200-mm Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water pipeline near Ashram Chowk.
The closure has caused heavy traffic snarls on several adjoining routes, particularly affecting commuters travelling between South Delhi, Noida via DND Flyway, and central parts of the city. Traffic movement has been severely impacted both day and night, with long delays reported on major connecting roads.
Officials have urged commuters to avoid the affected stretch and plan alternate routes in advance. Traffic is especially affected on the Ring Road stretch from Sarai Kale Khan towards Ashram Chowk, the DND Flyway approach, and merging points from CV Raman Marg.
To ease congestion, the traffic police have issued diversion plans for multiple routes. Vehicles travelling from Sarai Kale Khan, ITO, DND Noida, and Mayur Vihar towards Faridabad have been advised to use Ashram Flyover, Captain Gaur Marg, Okhla Mandi Road, Modi Mill Flyover, and Mathura Road.
Motorists approaching Ashram Chowk from the DND Flyway have been directed to use Barapullah Elevated Corridor or Ashram Flyover, while traffic from CV Raman Marg has been diverted via Mata Mandir Marg and Mathura Road.
Authorities have advised commuters to rely on public transport wherever possible, use navigation apps for real-time updates, and strictly follow instructions from traffic personnel deployed in the area.
The traffic restrictions are expected to remain in place until repair work is completed, with officials warning of continued congestion during peak hours.
