Delhi Police academy holds passing-out, oath ceremony for 43 telecom trainees

The Delhi Police Academy on Friday conducted a passing-out and oath ceremony for 43 trainee telecom and assistant wireless operators from Delhi Police and Ladakh Police at its Jharoda Kalan campus. The event marked the completion of their specialised training in communication and wireless operations.
The ceremony saw 16 head constables of the Assistant Wireless Operator (AWO) batch from Delhi Police and 27 constables of the Telecom Operator batch from Ladakh Police formally inducted into active service. There are 11 women officials among all trainees inducted into service, reflecting growing female participation in technical policing roles.
Mohd. Ali, Deputy Director-I of the Delhi Police Academy, attended the event as the chief guest. Senior academy officers, instructors and families of the trainees were also present at the ceremony. The newly trained personnel include recruits from several states. Among them were 27 trainees from Ladakh, four from Uttar Pradesh, three from Haryana, seven from Rajasthan and two from Delhi. The mix highlights the academy’s expanding role in training personnel from different police forces across the country. The oath was administered by Rajesh Dahiya, Assistant Director of the Delhi Police Academy. The trainees pledged to uphold the Constitution, perform their duties with honesty and integrity, and serve the public with commitment. The passing-out parade marked the end of an intensive training programme focused on modern telecom and wireless systems used in policing. Officials said communication units play a critical role in law enforcement, especially during emergencies, disaster response and large public events. Delhi Police Academy officials said the training was divided into two main phases. The first phase included 15 weeks of indoor and outdoor training at the academy. This was followed by five and a half months of practical training at various establishments of the Communication Unit, where trainees gained hands-on experience. Apart from technical training, the course also focused on physical fitness and discipline. Trainees underwent sessions in physical training, yoga and parade drills. Weapon handling and basic policing skills were also taught to ensure operational readiness. Special emphasis was placed on cybercrime awareness and personality development. Officials said this was done to prepare the trainees for the growing role of technology in policing and the increasing challenges posed by digital crimes. Delhi Police Academy officials said the institution has been consistently training personnel from different police forces, including Ladakh Police, in specialised fields. The academy aims to create a common professional standard and strengthen inter-force coordination through such programmes.
During the ceremony, awards were also presented to outstanding trainees. Woman Head Constable Shivani from Delhi Police and Woman Constable Tsering Angmo from Ladakh Police received the All-Round Best trophies in their respective categories for excellence in training and overall performance. Officials said the newly inducted telecom and wireless operators will now be posted to different units, where they will support police operations through secure and efficient communication networks.
The ceremony concluded with a formal march past, after which the trainees interacted with senior officers and family members.
