Delhi identifies land for next-gen tech industries, minister Sirsa holds talks with industry leaders

Delhi’s Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa held a dialogue with leading industry and real estate stakeholders on Friday to attract next-generation tech industries to the capital, revealing that the Government has identified approximately 1,148 acres of greenfield industrial opportunities across Kanjhawala, Ranikhera and Baprola.

The interaction, titled “Attracting Next-Gen Tech Industries to Delhi,” was attended by Dr S S Yadav, ACS (Industries), GNCTD, Saumya Saurabh, Special Commissioner, Industries, GNCTD, Nazuk Kumar, Managing Director, DSIDC, along with senior officials and representatives from NASSCOM and leading real estate stakeholders.

“The Delhi Government is open to ideas, partnerships and global best practices. We want industry to be a partner in shaping Delhi’s next-generation industrial ecosystem. Our approach will be based on consultation, transparency, ease of doing business and sustainable growth,” Sirsa said.

Sirsa said Delhi must prepare for industries of the future by creating an ecosystem promoting clean, non-polluting, technology-intensive and knowledge-based industries, aiming to leverage the city’s inherent strengths, including a highly skilled talent pool, proximity to the international airport, extensive Metro connectivity and a strong services ecosystem, to attract next-generation technology industries and quality employment.

He said the New Industrial Policy 2026-2036, currently under preparation, will provide a renewed framework for industrial growth, drawing on best practices from other states and industrial destinations while leveraging Delhi’s unique strengths. The policy will focus on attracting industries with high economic value but low environmental footprint, promoting investment, innovation, employment generation and ease of doing business.

Of the identified 1,148 acres, around 920 acres are located at Kanjhawala Industrial Area, around 147 acres at Ranikhera Industrial Area and around 81 acres at Baprola Industrial Area. Ranikhera Industrial Area is strategically located along UER-II, providing connectivity to major parts of the capital and surrounding region.

The Government is also exploring redevelopment of the 8-acre Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex into modern industrial and commercial spaces for emerging businesses.

“Our objective is not simply to bring more industries to Delhi. Our objective is to bring the right industries, industries that are clean, technology-driven, innovation-oriented and capable of creating high-quality employment. Delhi should become a destination for the industries of tomorrow,” Sirsa said.
